Hello
I am Maha Yusuf, an undergraduate student of Chemical Engineering from Islamabad, Pakistan. Most of you must be wondering ‘what is she doing on the blog of a Malaysian company, secQ.me’. Then, I am here to introduce myself to each one of the secQ.me user across the globe. Here my story begins:
I belong to an orthodox Pakistani family from a small city of Pakistan namely, Jhang. Owing to my academic excellence and erudition, I was allowed to attend school. I got high 9 A grades in O, levels and 4 A’s in A, levels; I studied on scholarship. In 2007, I got a chance to represent Pakistan in International Geofest, India and got consolation prize in science model display among 74 International teams. Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering had been my utmost desire and passion. After A, levels, I applied to UK to various universities and my application got accepted in Oxford University, University College London, Brunel University, Sheffield University and Bath University; moreover, I was selected as a Student Ambassador in Brunel. But due to a cluster of some unfortunate reasons including conservative thinking, I couldn’t pursue an undergraduate degree in UK.
I was broken.
But I never lost hope. I applied to National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan and got admission in Chemical Engineering. The university environment cum atmosphere coupled with the facilities it offered abated my depression and infused a sense of contentment while continuing to enkindle the spark of doing something in me. I joined various societies at NUST and started working for them as an Operations Executive in one society to a Think-Tank member in the other to as a Students Coordinator. In order to keep a balance between the society work and academics, I had to work late nights. There were times I hadn’t slept for three days! But like I always say, hard work pays off.
Mine paid off too! I submitted my video in a competition ‘Battle of Ideas’- GISTech-1 and got selected among the 25 semifinalists from 43 countries! Hence, I was invited by Prime Minister of Turkey for attending the Second Global Summit on Entrepreneurship in Istanbul, Turkey from 3-5th December, 2011.
It was 3rd December, 2011 in a restaurant in Taksim, Istanbul when an enthusiastic and passionate entrepreneur joined me and my fellows on lunch table. He was the Founder of secQ.me, Khoo Chen Shiang; he was in Istanbul for the same cause. I pitched him my idea of ‘Piezoelectric solution to Pakistan Energy Crisis’ which left the Founder saying ‘Maha, you are natural’! We attended opening ceremony of the Global Summit in Hilton Convention Centre and later experienced Senior Lecturers from MIT, Stanford, Berkley, Venture Capitalists from Silicon Valley and CEO’s of eminent companies from across the globe.
Khoo Chen Shiang ended up being the runner-up of GIStech-1 with prize money of $10,000. When we flew back to our respective countries, Khoo offered me to be an Ambassador of his company which I merrily accepted since working with Khoo is an experience in its very own way.
Now comes my role in secQ.me: Being an Ambassador/Spokesman of secQ.me, I am responsible for promoting the company globally via social media and creating awareness of crime prevention and women safety among the masses. World has an endless list of crime cases where preventive approach could have avoided an accident or a life-changing incident. An incident takes a second to happen- We, at secQ.me, ensure users safety based on preventive approach. I am also responsible to interact with our users online to take their feedback and help them understand our app. By this, I would love to talk to you, take your feedback, help you in understanding the app, take your suggestions to secQ.me so that they serve you better and give you measures so that you are safer wherever you go.
So, write to me on pr@secq.me
Cheers
Ambassador of secQ.me
Maha Yusuf

Perfect Maha..from the first moment I’ve seen you in Turkey as I were there as a participate from Egypt, I felt you are natural, passionate to do something and I’m sure you will make it happen.
The same went with Khoo who tried to help us and suggest some useful books to read.
And yes Maha I believe that working with him is an experience in itself.
Hope you all the best,
Let me know SecQ.me updates so I can be one of its beta testers
All the best,
Heba Hosny
