For ‘YOU’
It’s such a long time since I wrote to our users across the globe; in short, I missed you all hehe. Hope everything is fine and great at your ends, with all of you being ‘smart’ about risk!
I will commence with stating that the month of April has been one of the busiest months for the company with everyone from the Founder himself to the interns to PR team to Research and Development department, running to make tasks meet. Hard times come and go – the best thing about them is that they don’t last long and mostly end with the bearing of fruit. We did hard-work in the month to make you feel safer, securer and smarter about risk.
The month started with the “deadline of the GIST-I Dare Business Plan Competition”. Assuming that you already know about the GIST- I Dare Business plan competition, since I have written about the workshop jointly organized by GIST and MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab Region in the previous blog, I will move ahead. SecQ.me has participated in the competition to secure funds, to go global and to serve ‘you’ better. Surprisingly, the deadline of the submission was the ‘birthday of our Founder, Khoo Chen Shiang’ which turned out a blessing for us. We submitted the business plan and then celebrated afterwards.
Before we could relax for a while after the submission of the business plan, we started a “Survey” to go to the grass root level and know what ‘you’ think of our app, whether you need it or not, or is it making a difference towards your life? At SecQ.me, we believe in the concept of ‘global citizenship’, and hence going global is important for us not because of the flag of internationalization but because we do not differentiate between any one of you on the basis of cast, creed or religion and hence, envisage a ‘secure and safer world’ with peace of mind for its citizens. Consequently, I undertook this grand task of ‘global survey’ and started with a South-East Asian country – Pakistan. I chose Pakistani nation partially because I belong to them but more because the country’s security has been on stake for quite a long time both at international and domestic level, thus making ‘security’ an important issue for the masses. It was a dual investigation of the security issue of masses and the way SecQ.me possibly can and will make a difference to their lives. ‘Charity always begins from home’ – the statement gave me an insight of the region to target for the survey and I ended up surveying in my very own school, School of Chemicals and Materials Engineering, National University of Sciences and Technology. I surveyed my professors, lecturers, and friends and last but not the least, Dean of my school. A week-long survey was undoubtedly one of the arduous tasks I had undertaken since joining SecQ.me team but like I always say, hard work pays off; it ended well! With the hand-written messages from my professors for the company to the video messages of the token of goodwill and gesture from Islamabad, Pakistan to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the survey ended up bridging the gap between the two nations. I am attaching here the hand-written messages of my professors for the company and Malaysia for you to read and give an example of collaboration of two nations towards the same goal – “safer, smarter and securer you”!

With this, SecQ.me entered Pakistani market, touching the hearts of hundreds in Islamabad. Now, for future global endeavors, I am thinking of going to India to talk to Indian women and listen to their crime prevention and women security issues.
With this, the first blog of the month ends and it has given me an immense pleasure to write to you again. I would love to talk to you and listen to what you think of my ideas, of this blog, of the company and most importantly, of crime prevention and security. Because at the end of the day, your security is our priority, my priority!
