“the loved one ”

Needless to say, we are tired of participating in Business Plan competitions, running after Venture Capitalists, going on tech forums and applying for a dozen meetings a week. We are tired of hiring lawyers for registering our patents and working days and nights.

But at the end of the day when we return home, the lonely road of hardships no longer seems lonely and all of this seems effortless – why?

When my loved one carries me in his arms and cares for me, it all seems effortless. When I hold my one-year old son against my chest, my hearts says ‘it’s all worth it’. This home is worth fighting for. My loved ones are worth it! Most of you reading this article can perfectly relate to the situation and have a transparent idea of what a loved one means in one’s life. Then, I think that probably the way I am designed to contribute to the society is by giving its people a vision of being securer, smarter and safer. Probably the way my Creator has deigned me is different from many others and thus, I have to play my part.

With this in mind, I wake up and resume my work. My work isn’t that much boring as it seems haha – arranging meetings, securing funds, dreaming of Silicon Valley, networking, social media marketing, and much much more.

Hence, once while working late night, I came across “GIST BOOT CAMP MALAYSIA” on face book page of GIST (Global Innovation through Science and Technology). GIST has always been dear to our hearts since it has given us what we would cherish for the rest of our lives. When the Founder of the company was at his lowest ebb, it was ‘GIST’ that enkindled the spark of hopes for him and turned over a new leaf in his entrepreneurial career. Thus, when we came to know of GIST Boot camp in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, we couldn’t be happier. Apart from competing for the prize, it would give us an opportunity to re-unite with the organizers, Natalia Pipia (Senior Program Manager CDRF GIST) and Ovidiu Bujorean (Program Manager for GIST Initiative) who are now our great friends, we thought.

Thus, began the competition for survival among hundreds of startup companies of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Boot Camp was difficult for us because of the series of other activities and projects in pipeline. But SecQ.me team left no stone unturned in giving the best shot and consequently and undoubtedly, was filtered from hundreds of startups and managed to face the judges on the great day!

SecQ.me was featured on GIST cover of BOOT Camp Malaysia and came in ‘Top 3’ Judges Choice Startups, winning a place in YouNoodle Base Camp in Silicon Valley, July to August 2012!

At the end, I would like to whole-heartedly thank GIST, StartupMalaysia and YouNoodle for organizing such Camps and Forums which ensure the survival of startups like us. Apart from mentoring, globalization and networking, these forums are close to our heart owing to the chance they give us to explore and test ourselves to limits.

I am very happy and excited for my other fellow startups who have won a place in Silicon Valley Base Camp. Because at the end of the day, money, fame, fortune don’t last – what lasts forever is friendship, love and sincerity!

With this ends my second blog of the month for you. Do let me know what you think of my ideas, this blog, this article and of the company – maha.yusuf@secq.me

Maha
